Most learners need between 20 and 40 hours of professional tuition to pass an automatic driving test

You can claim up to 40 hours of free driving lessons in the UK through the Motability Foundation if you are a disabled person with a provisional license, have passed your theory test, and receive a means-tested benefit (e.g., Universal Credit, Income Support) while already holding or ordering a Motability vehicle. Apply online through mobility website.

If you don’t pass your test, your instructor will review the examiner’s feedback with you and focus on the areas that need improvement. Many learners pass successfully on their next attempt with a few additional targeted lessons.

If you fail your practical driving test, you must wait at least 10 working days before taking another test. The waiting period starts from the day after your test. Sundays and public holidays do not count. You can book your next test immediately, but the appointment must be at least 10 working days later.
